International Translation Day (ITD) is a time for translation and interpreting professionals worldwide to come together and celebrate their contributions to global communication and understanding. The Asociación Panameña de Traductores e Intérpretes (APTI) took the opportunity to commemorate the day with enthusiasm and camaraderie, making it a memorable event for its members, families, and guests interested in the profession.
In September, APTI organised two informative webinars as part of its ITD celebrations that aimed to enlighten attendees on various aspects of the translation and interpreting field, fostering knowledge exchange and professional growth.
However, the heart of the celebration was on the very day, 30 September, when APTI hosted a special gathering for its members and extended the invitation to their families and anyone interested in the world of translation and interpreting. The event was a delightful blend of insightful discussions, fun activities, and a dash of adventure.
The day began with an enlightening conference on ‘Artificial intelligence in translation’. The session delved into how AI is revolutionising the translation industry, providing invaluable insights for attendees on the latest trends and technologies impacting their profession. It emphasised the importance of staying up-to-date and adaptable in a rapidly changing landscape.
As the day progressed, participants had the opportunity to relax, bond, and engage in a variety of enjoyable activities. The event featured an array of games, providing a platform for members to unwind and share their passion for their craft. These interactive activities not only added a fun element to the gathering, but also facilitated networking and connection among members.
One of the highlights of the celebration was a boat trip along Panama’s stunning coastline. The serene waters and beautiful scenery created the perfect backdrop for building lasting memories and friendships among APTI members. The trip allowed everyone to enjoy some quality time outside the daily routine, appreciating Panama’s beauty.
