By Guillaume Deneufbourg, FIT President
It is a true pleasure to introduce the latest issue of Translatio. This edition is particularly special, as it is the first one produced entirely by the new editorial team assembled for this mandate. I would like to say a huge thank you to everyone on this Standing Committee for their energy and commitment, and for all the work they have already put in. I wish them every success with this new chapter.
This handover is also the perfect time to express my gratitude to my colleagues who have overseen Translatio for the last few years. Thanks to their dedication and the quality of their work, the newsletter has become a vital space for our professions to communicate and reflect on what we do. I am sure they know who they are; they have my warmest thanks for everything they have brought to this publication.
Of course, the Translatio Standing Committee is not the only new team for this mandate. We have spent the last few months putting together teams, filling positions and holding initial meetings to set our priorities. This groundwork was essential, and I am glad to say that all our Standing Committees and working groups are now fully up and running. My thanks go to the Council members who have supported this process so capably: Roula, Hasuria, Heidi and Mary Ann.
Our teams are now hard at work on the many issues facing FIT and our professions more broadly. I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has stepped up to help. Professional associations simply would not work without volunteers devoting their time and expertise to our community. It is this collective energy that keeps our various member associations – and through them, our Federation – moving forward.
For my part, I have also offered to chair the Procedures and Structural Reform Standing Committee. This is largely in response to what many of you asked for at the last congress: a Federation that moves with the times, is more efficient and transparent, and provides clearer value to its member associations. The project is now underway; we are working tirelessly with a motivated and proactive team, and we will be able to discuss our initial progress at the General Meeting in September.
Until then, I would like to send my best wishes and encouragement to everyone in our Standing Committees, working groups and task forces. Your commitment is one of FIT’s central pillars.
I hope you enjoy reading this new issue of Translatio.
