On 27 September 2025, more than 80 people gathered at the Courtyard Marriott Hotel in Guatemala City for the annual International Translation Day celebration hosted by the Asociación Guatemalteca de Intérpretes y Traductores (AGIT).
The event opened with a welcome message from AGIT’s president, Mariana Landaverde, and featured in-person presentations by an outstanding group of national and international experts: Gabriela Escarrá (Argentina), Nora Díaz (Mexico), Gerardo Cáceres (El Salvador), and Fernando Galindo and Eric Sosa (Guatemala). Each talk was insightful, engaging, productive and inspiring. The series of presentations wrapped up with a panel forum where speakers pulled the main ideas together, opened up the floor for discussion, and answered questions from the audience, highlighting the key takeaways of the day.
Attendees also had opportunities to connect with the speakers and colleagues during breaks and lunch. In addition, they took part in several activities: networking sessions, a coffee-brewing demonstration, tastings of coffee from different regions of Guatemala, visits to sponsor booths, and a group yoga session for relaxation. The event ended on a cheerful note with a raffle among participants, adding a lively and joyful touch to the end of the day.
